We have released a video of our Gecko Rock installation.

The Efergy e2 can now be installed by a qualified Electrician. If you don’t know which Efergy to buy, then buy the Single Phase e2 and if you need the three phase one, you can pay the electrician an additional R300 cash.

At the moment this is only available in Cape Town.

The kit includes the Efergy e2, the PowerStation recharger, 8 AA batteries (4 fully charged), 8 AAA batteries (fully charged), installation by a qualified electrician and setup of the device with your tariff (if you can supply your electricity account).

The product is only R100 more than our Efergy Kit including the recharger and batteries.
In order to keep these prices down, the meter will be installed within 3 weeks of payment.

Note: the Efergy can be installed quite easily by most people, but some of our potential clients have been asking us if it can be installed by an electrician. Hence this note.

David Lipschitz article on Grid Tie and Net Metering appears in Engineering News today.

It seems like NERSA are allowing grid-tie net-metering systems as long as they are “under the radar.”

This means that as long as the systems never have a credit balance at month or year end, they are ok.

We need security of supply. The fastest way to get this is with grid-tie inverters and net-metering. This will be at zero cost to the country. In fact it won’t be zero cost as it will be negative cost, i.e. profit.
